Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was brought into this world by Hermann and Pauline Einstein, on March 14th, 1879, in the town of Ulm, Wurttemberg, Germany. Albert was a smart child, and gave hints to at least parts of the future to come. He was playing the violin by the age of 5 and while he showed no great scholastic ability, it was more from a lack of love for the school system, than a lack of intelligence. At the young age of 15, he left school in Germany, mostly because of his horrid grades, and moved with his family to Milan.
Einstein graduated from the Zurich Polytechnic as a secondary school teacher of math and physics in the spring of 1900. After switching to Swiss citizenship from German, to avoid the draft they say, he took up a job at the Swiss patent office in Bern, where he stayed until 1909. During this time he wrote quite a few astonishing theoretical physics publications, all in his spare time. He held positions at both the University of Bern and the following year at the University of Zurich.
1905 was a busy year for Albert. It saw the publication of three papers, all imminently important to physics. The first was an examination of the phenomenon discovered by a Max Planck. Albert used Planck's quantum hypothesis to describe his conclusions on the electromagnetic radiation of light. The second paper is the one today called "The Special Theory of Relativity". He based his writings on the fundamental hypotheses that the laws of physics had to have the same form in any frame of reference, and by assuming that the speed of light remained constant in these said same references. Albert also earned himself a doctorate from the University of Zurich. 1905 brought about the birth of E=mc2, that eternally famous equation that seems to stand for much more then "energy equals mass times the velocity of light squared".
The end of 1909 recognized Albert Einstein as a leading scientific thinker by many of his peers. He soon caught himself a prestigious position at the Kaiser-Wilhelm Gesellschaft in Berlin. His days of teaching were over. He remained on staff there until 1933, and moved onto a research position at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
Through out this illustrious career as a physicist, Albert wasn't alone. He had a family, and although his first marriage wasn't lasting, it led to another one who stood by him till death. Mileva was his first, and he had two sons with her. Hans-Albert and Eduard. Elsa was his second wife, also heard to be his cousin...but I won't judge! She brought a daughter into the family by the name of Margot.
Albert Einstein died in 1955, away from his birth land but close to what was important to him. He remained a pacifist through out, but in a complete contridiction, had much to do witht he development of the atom bomb.
Albert Einstein was a genius in his time, and unlike many that fizz out with the coming of new technologies and understandings, is still a genius today. He gave this world more then we gave him, and we owe him for all he has contributed.
